DENVER -- The Denver Central Market hopes to be a new destination in the RiNo neighborhood. It's also a foodie's dream. 11 vendors are housed inside, selling everything from fresh produce, fish and meat to hand-tossed pizza and ice cream.

The new market opens at a time when the neighborhood is seeing millions of dollars pour in for new development. Owner Ken Wolf bought the building in 1995 way before the neighborhood was called River North or RiNo, it was hardly up-and-coming.

"We’re actually creating a neighborhood that didn’t exist," said Wolf.

The building that once housed a souvenir manufacturer, antique shop and used car deal has been transformed. Wolf and restaurateur Jeff Osaka felt there was a need for a gourmet market in the area.

"I think ours is very much a shopping destination," said Osaka. "You know we have the fresh fish here, the butcher counter right behind me, bakery, coffee, everything you can do your basic shopping with."

The market will celebrate its grand opening on Sunday, Sept. 25. For a complete list of vendors, visit The Denver Central Market website.
